The blindfold “ผ้าปิดตา”

คุณรู้เรื่องตำนานของอินเดียเผ่าเชโรกี เกี่ยวกับพิธีการเดินทางของเด็ก หรือไม่

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him an leaves him alone.  He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.  He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

พ่อของเขาพาเขาเข้าป่า ปิดตาและปล่อยเขาคนเดียว เขาจะต้องนั่งอยู่บนตอไม้ตลอดทั้งคืนและไม่ได้สามารถได้เปิดผ้าปิดตาจนแสงตะวันยามเช้าของดวงอาทิตย์ส่องขึ้น เขาต้องไม่ร้องขอความช่วยเหลือจากใคร

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN

เมื่อผ่านคืนนั้นไปได้ เขาจะเป็นผู้ชายเต็มตัว

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

เขาไม่อนุญาตให้เล่าประสบการณ์ให้เด็กชายคนอื่นฟัง เพราะว่าหนทางการนำไปสู่ความเป็นลูกผู้ชายเป็นของแต่ละคน

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him . Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could  become a man!

โดยธรรมชาติแล้วเด็กผู้ชายต้องตกอยู่ในความหวาดกลัว เขาจะได้ยินเสียงต่างๆ โดยไม่ต้องสงสัยจะต้องมีสัตว์ป่าล้อมอยู่รอบๆตัวเขา หรืออาจจะมีบางคนที่คอยทำลายเขาก็ได้ เมื่อเสียงลมพัดผ่านใบหญ้าและผิวดินทำให้เขาที่นั่งแข็งทื่อบนท่อนไม้ถูกฉุดให้ขนลุก แต่เขายังคงนั่งอย่างไม่ยินดียินร้าย ไม่ยอมเปิดตา นั่นคือหนทางเดียวที่จะทำให้เขาถูกเรียกว่า ผู้ชาย

Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold.

ในที่สุดหลังผ่านคืนอันหน้าสะพรึงกลัว เมื่อดวงอาทิตย์ปรากฏขึ้น เขาเปิดผ้าปิดตาของเขาออก

It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.

ในตอนนั้นเขากลับพบว่าพ่อของเขานั่งอยู่บนตอไม้ข้างๆเขา  

He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

และเฝ้าดูเขาตลอดทั้งคืน คอยป้องกันลูกชายของเขาจากอันตรายต่างๆ

We, too, are never alone.

เรา ก็เช่นกัน ที่ไม่เคยอยู่คนเดียว

Even when we don't know it, God is watching over us, Sitting on the stump beside us!

When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him!

แม้ว่าเราไม่รู้ตัว พระเจ้ากำลังเฝ้าดูพวกเรา พระองค์นั่งอยู่บนตอไม้ที่อยู่ข้างเรา

เมื่อมีปัญหาเข้ามา,  สิ่งทั้งหมดที่เราต้องทำคือการเอื่อมมือไปถึงพระองค์
